Webinar on Kindergarten Education for Palestinian Refugee Children
March 31, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Spring is here and kids in the Zahrat Al-Yasmeen kindergarten are back into short-sleeved T-shirts and playing in the playground and the olive grove adjoining the school. Families are preparing for Ramadan even as events on the ground in Bethlehem and other cities intrude savagely on everyday life.
And now that spring is here, we are raising funds for the next phase of the school – building a third classroom and expanding the capacity from 50 to 75 children. Our goal is to raise $150,000 over the next few weeks. Whatever you can give would be very helpful but we also need your continuing support and active participation in spreading the word. Kindergarten Education During Military Occupation
Amidst all the bad and worrying news, we are glad to report that the Zahrat Al-Yasmeen kindergarten is flourishing and going from strength to strength. Last year’s applications greatly exceeded the available places we created. Parents and the community were overwhelmed with joy at the first graduation in June last year. A recent inspection by the Ministry of Education gave the school very high marks, topped off with a comment from the lead inspector who said that she wished she could send her own children to such a school.
Kudos to the teachers and to the leadership of the Lajee Center in Aida Camp where the school is located. And kudos to so many of you, individuals, and foundations, who have helped build the first two classrooms and paid for the operations over the past two years. This really is a success story.
