From the River to the Sea: Palestinian Resistance and the Threat of Regional War

Date & Time
Nov 9, 2023 04:00 PM in
Description
Join us this Thursday to learn about the Palestinian resistance to Zionist occupation, colonization, and genocide, as well as the correlation of forces connecting the Palestinian people to allied organizations and states throughout the region as part of the century-long struggle for land, dignity, and national sovereignty. Guest speakers will share key facts and context regarding the potential consequences of an expanding regional war, and provide a foundational understanding of the Palestinian right of resistance and return, the criminalization of support for Palestinian resistance and liberation within “democratic” Western states (e.g. Germany, France, and the United States), the centrality of Palestinian political prisoners within the national liberation movement, and the important role that socialists in the United States must play by uprooting Zionism and ending all support for Israel’s occupation of Palestine. Guest speakers for this event will be Nerdeen Kiswani, founder and chair of Within Our Lifetime; Charlotte Kates, international coordinator of Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network; and Bikrum Gill, assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Virginia Tech.
