Write for Rights on Human Rights Day

This is part of Amnesty International’s global work to defend human rights and dignity.
Write for Rights is an opportunity for us to work together to write letters, emails, or online posts on behalf of people around the world persecuted or jailed for their identity, beliefs, or words.
Date/Time: Tuesday December 10, 2024 (Human Rights Day!). Drop in between 3:00 – 6:00 PM
Place: Sierra 2 Center, Room 10. 2791 24th Street, Sacramento (where 24th St meets 4th Ave in Curtis Park)
What we will do: We will join with thousands of people who are taking part in the world’s largest write-a-thon, Write for Rights.
Advocacy: We will write to government officials to pressure them to release people jailed unfairly and encourage them to stop harassing human rights defenders.
Solidarity: We will also have opportunities to send cards to let the victims (or their families) know that we are thinking of them!
What is provided: No prior knowledge or skills is required; all materials and instructions will be supplied including sample letters.
Hot drinks and snacks will also be provided at this free event. You can bring a favorite pen and/or your laptop if you wish (Wi-Fi available).
