One of the first steps to building community is to look at those around us with a “beginner mind.” How can we authentically meet people, both strangers and those known to us, without the weight of preconceived notions and suppositions? How can we ask ourselves what is true about ideas, actions, and people to become more effective in the work we are here to do in our communities? How do we divest ourselves from the transactional behaviors the war economy has imposed on us and pivot to the capacity to be relational. In this learning hour, Charles Eisenstein and Jodie Evans will explore how we erect unconscious barriers between ourselves and others while trying to effect change, and how to think in new ways about our activism and our work in the world in these challenging times.
